The story behind the artwork:Â
This is an alternate story of Medusa. In this painting Medusa was able to escape from Poseidon and his sexual brutality upon her. She stole his trident and took away his power therefore avoiding the curse that was placed on her and that converted her into a monster. You can see her necklace is a snake and that on her right hand side in the midst of the ocean you will discover the face of Poseidon upset of having lost her and his trident.
