The artwork itself represents the human body (all visible) disintegrating while the soul begins to expand through the universe. In this piece I represented the universe in the jacket full of stars that are 3D looking after I added hot glue to make them stand out on the canvas. I used a white background to represent pure light. Then glitter was added to the “light” to make it shine and add symbolism of another dimension. The way I represent the disintegration of the body is through rapid use of chunky brush stokes that provide texture to the painting. Inside the curly hair of the woman there is phrase “What is inside of me is invisible” representing the soul. On the bottom edge of her golden glasses there is a quote which reads “I am more than what you see”. She represents humanity and the painting as whole is set to convey the viewer one important message. The essence of who we are is more powerful, more beautiful and more important than the physical. The most important things in life tend to be invisible to the human eye. In this artwork my inspiration is the soul. At first glance the viewer can see a woman with stars on her jacket; both begin to disintegrate across the canvas. This represents that we are part of the universe and that our essence is the most important element of who we are. Our essence is the only element that transcends once our body (all the physical) dies.

The wings represent the wonderful phrase written by Frida which said "Feet what do I want you for if I have wings to fly". This was a very important face referring to her imagination during the large times she spent in bed due to her accident. The heart as worn as a fabulous piece of jewelry, representing how she always wore her heart on her sleeve.
